Western’s Craig Berninger speaks to the group about hollow bar installation
Rock drilling engineers, contractors, and estimators had the opportunity to meet in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday, November 9, 2018 for TEI Rock Drills’ and Western Equipment Solutions’ Hollow Bar Seminar. Participants learned from industry experts through classroom instruction and outdoor demonstrations about the process and best practices of installing hollow bar soil nails (HBSN) for soil stabilization.
The International Association of Foundation Drilling, in conjunction with The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, devised a standard for the installation of HBSN in 2010. Since then, TEI has been at the forefront of the education of users in this method, holding sold-out seminars and schools several times each year.
Attendees wait outside Western Equipment Solutions for a drilling demonstration to begin
Western Equipment Solutions, a distributor of TEI equipment, transformed their warehouse into a classroom for this event. Instructors led the discussion to familiarize attendees with HBSN technology, including different types of hollow bars, proper drill rig choice, and best grout plant technique.
The next Hollow Bar Seminar will be held May 1-2, 2019 in Columbus, North Carolina at Foothills Drilling Equipment. Two sessions of TEI’s Hollow Bar School will take place in Montrose, Colorado, June 2-4 and June 5-7, 2019. Call 800-777-3745 now to reserve your space – they will fill up quickly, don’t miss it!

Mining, manufacturing, electrical, and power industry leaders will be gathering together to learn from each other and stay informed of new technology. Each day of the week-long expo will feature a different theme, including safety, diversity, and skill development. The event promises to have a highly immersive environment where industry experts will be available for seminars and hands-on demonstrations of new products.
Our long-time distributor, Demolition & Drilling Equipment (DDE), is located in South Africa and will have an exhibit at hall OS, stand P1202. It will be Sue’s first visit to South Africa.
Safe travels, guys!
